How long can a past bancruptcy be found in someones history?

  1. I believe it's 9 years from date of file plus 2 - 4 years for all unpaid collectors final notifications to be processed. Maybe 11 to 14 years. This was stipulated so that people can actually be capable of having a second chance in the housing market. If you files a partial/kept some of your assets open for collection, add another few years until you've completed the car payments, etc...

  5. It typically depends on the reporting/credit bureau.  A bankruptcy will show on your credit report typically anywhere from 7-10 years after the discharge.
