How long after giving birth should I wait to breed my guinea pig?

My guinea pig just had four babies and daddy already wants to mate again ( which I know is normal). I know the male wants to mate already but how do I know when the female is ready to mate? I want to mate them again but I want to make sure she is healthy and ready to mate again to ensure a large sized litter. Is there anything I can do to ensure a large sized litter. And dad was doing okay being with the babies, but I still took him out so they wouldn't mate again, but do I have to keep him seperated from his babies just in case he wants to mate with them?
