How long after i drink can i start breastfeeding again?

last night i had two Smirnoff ice between 9pm and 2am, i pumped at 330am and dumped it out, its now 940am, should i pump and dump again, or a few more times? when will it be ok to breastfeed again?

  1. Wait 2-3 hours per drink and you should be fine to breastfeed again according to kellymom.com (great breastfeeding resource!)


  2. It's fine to breastfeed now. And actually, unless it's for comfort/to keep supply up, you don't have to pump and dump. As alcohol is filtered out of your blood, it's also filtered out of your milk.  If you're ok to drive, you're ok to breastfeed!


  3. You're totally fine to breastfeed now. You should wait a few hours per drink.  

  4. Once the alcohol is out of your system, it's out of your milk.  You are fine to nurse now.

  5. I was always to "pump and dump" for 24 hours after drinking. That is why I always made plans for drinking. lol So I would pump and freeze breast milk for a few days before drinking, so I would have plenty stored up. =)
