  1. i would sugest that you just use a condom... that way you are way way more sure not to get pregnant

  2. when i get birth control.. my doctor says wate a week!! no less!!

  3. My gyno told me 3 weeks.

  4. They say about a month, but I would not have unprotected s*x anyway. Birth control is not 100% accurate and you still have to worry about STDs!

  5. Read the packet that came with your BC.  It tells you all this information.  If you start the BC pill on the first day of your period you are protected immediately.  If you start it on the "Sunday start" (the sunday after you get your period) then you are protected 7 days after that.

I don't know where people get this "it takes months to build up in your system".  There is nothing to build up in your system, it's a hormone that tricks your body into thinking it's pregnant, so your body doesn't produce/release an egg to be fertilized.    Please be sure to take the pill at the same time every day.  If you miss or take a pill really late this will reduce the pills effectiveness drastically and therefore leave you with a higher chance of pregnancy.  Even on the pill there is still a slight change of pregnancy, which is why it's still suggested to use a condom.

Make sure you body is adjusted to your BC pill first.  If you're bleeding or spotting, then I would use a condom until your hormones are back on track from taking the pill just to be safe.  If you don't have any problems when starting the pill, then you should be ok depending on when you decide to start the pill.  It doesn't take 3-6 months for a BC pill to work, that's just crazy.
