The main reason you're told not to smoke after getting your teeth pulled is because sucking action can cause the little blood clots to be sucked out of the extraction sites. When this happens, it's super painful and infection can occur. You're not supposed to suck drinks out of a straw for the same reason. If you really want to smoke, have someone else blow the smoke into your mouth and inhale.
