Question:

How long after marriage can you apply for citizenship through naturalization?

The USCIS website says after 3 years, but it doesn't mention if that is 3 years with a greencard "with conditions removed" OR just plain 3 years of marriage (which would be a few months after applying to have your conditions on your greencard removed).

If anyone has gone through this, we would greatly appreciate the help!

  1. 3 years from the date you entered the US as a lawful permanent resident.  My wife did this 2 years ago.  When we went to CIS to complete the 751 conditions removal, they suggested we file the naturalization application.  It only took my wife 6 months from the day we filed the N-400 for her to naturalize.

  2. When you get your green card, the conditional one, there will be a date on it.  Add 3 years.  You are allowed to apply 90 days early.
