How long after my wedding am i able to host a dinner in my husband and my honor?

I got married this past Feb. We did not have the money to host a reception for the same day. I would like to host a dinner in our honor. But the dinner still wont be until the new year starts. Should I send out invitations, or should everyone be called. Can I make the dinner semi formal? I need help.

If it won't be until after the start of the new year, why don't you plan something fro your 1 year anniversary. You can plan it any way you want, as long as you keep your guests in mind.

Have the dinner in Feb for your 1 yr anniversary and send the invites out right after the holiday season so they don't get lost in the shuffle of Christmas cards and invites, etc. You can absolutely make it semi formal- you can make it hower you want!

You do not host a dinner in your own honor. (uughh!)

Calle it a newlyweds party or a house warming party... not a dinner in your honor. You can also make it an elaborate anniversary party or a Formal Newlyweds New Years Party.

Call people first and indicate the attire code, Then send invited 1 month out.

You can make this dinner anyway that you want. Yes you should send out invitations.  Why not make it a 1 year anniversary dinner .  You said that it was going to be after the first of the year.  You could make it very special that way, and still accomplish what you want by honoring your special day and wanting to share that day with friends and relatives with a little dinner party.  Good Luck and Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary coming up.

I think that within a year is a reasonable time frame and I think that if you send out invitations it will set the mood for the night. I definately think that the dinner could be semi formal because it is to celebrate your wedding.
