How long after sitting up alone, does a baby crawl?

On average...I mean once they sit up alone I suppose they can go on doing that for months...or crawl quite soon after...what is your experience.

I have heard many different time lines for crawling.. I really think it depends on the child. My friend's baby crawled at 5 months but my partner's nephew didn't crawl until 7 months.. I would say inbetween there but again, all babies are different and some want to take their time ^^

my bub sat unaided at 6 months and is just starting to mobilize now at 7 months 2 weeks

but they all do it on their own time

They will start to crawl - usually backwards at about 9 months and they are usually crawling by one year. Don't be intimidated by people that say that their children walked or crawled eariler than yours because every child is an indivdual and by pushing a child you can do more damage than letting them develop at their own rate.

My daughter started to sit completely unaided when she was about 6 months old.

She started to crawl when she was 8 and a half months old (well she bum shuffled first then crawled about a weel later)

They won't do it until they are ready, you can't put a time limit on it.

My 2 boys sat unaided at 6mths and were crawling by 8 and a half months. My daughter started crawling at 6 and a half months and still at 8 and a half months can't sit unaided for very long and is now trying to pull herself up on everything.

Not all babiesdo everything by the book.

My daughter sat up at about 5 months but didn't start crawling until she was 9 months.  She sat there watching other babies do it and one day she just started crawling around and pulling herself up on the furniture like a pro.  I think she was just working out her technique before actually trying it, lol!  Now she's 10 months and trying to walk. Gosh, I wish I could sit down and have a cup of tea.  That goes out of the window when they start crawling!

It depends on the child and some children will crawl before they sit on their own unaided. Each child develops at a different rate and time and in all different orders! Some children develop early but they all seem to catch up to each other once they reach school. (except my child of course, she's obviously far superior to everyone else and much more beautiful than every other child out there.)

Every child is different but my daughter started sitting up at 6 months and started crawling at about 7months then standing at 8months and walking at 9months. She walked and stood really early but I think she was right on target with sitting up and crawling.

my little man was crawling at 7 months, and walking at 9 1/2!  every child is different

My son crawled  before he sat!! He would commando crawl around at 5 months, and was crawling properly and pulling up at 6 months. He didn't sit unaided until 7 month, then walked at 9. It all depends on baby, they're all different.

My youngest is 18 weeks, and a lot steadier when held in sitting position than his brother was at that age, but not interested in crawling at all, but his brother was desperately trying!!

my little girl sat up at 4 and a bit months on her own with out support which the health visiters were amazed at but she then never did crawl and never pulled her self up until later and never put weight onto her feet  while i held her hands she just lifted her legs up, but when she was 11months old she bum shuffled. Then pulled her self up at 15 months old then walked at 17 months.. So all babies are different I take it..

My son sat unaided at 6 months and crawled at 9 months exactly. My daughter sat at 5 months, crawled at 8, and stood alone at 9 months. She is now 10 and a half months and took 2 steps yesterday. I think she has learnt earlier because she wants to follow her big brother everywhere.
