How long after taking tramadol can you drink?

I was on tramadol after UCL surgery on my thumb/hand (vicodin gave me bad side effects). I took 1 50mg pill this morning around 7ish and its now past 12am. I'm looking to have a few beers with my friends but have heard of serious side effects of drinking while on the pill. How long before it exits my body and I'm safe to drink? I don't plan on taking anymore medicine anytime soon.

    wait a little more,normaly alopathic medicines took 1/2 hour to take effact.
