How long after the IRS says they are processing an amended return does it take for them to mail it to you?

I called them today. They said they got it April 25 and started processing it yesterday. Any ideas of when I will get it?

Granted your return is correct you should receive your anticipated refund within 8-12 weeks if you are being mailed a check.  If you are having a direct deposit done you can shave off 2 weeks.  It will also depend if you electronically filed your 1040-X or if it was mailed to the IRS.

Amended Return REFUNDS are not direct deposited only Mailed.

It should be 8-12 weeks from April 25, perhaps longer given the large backlog they have. When they said they started processing it, they probably meant that it's been assigned to someone. I'd figure 4-6 weeks from now to get the money.
