How long after you apply for Canadian permanent residence do you go for the medical exam? Thanks.

(Asking on behalf of my dad, so this is for an application made from the US of A.)

  1. ELLIE you live in a fantasy world if you think PR applications are processed in 3 months!!!! From USA PRs are currently taking up to 2 years!!!! Most other countries take a LOT longer than that.

Now what category is your father applying under? How old is he? As has been explained, the medical exams for everyone in the family must be done before you send in the paperwork. That includes you if you are under the age of 22. You would need to go to a DMP (designated medical practicitoner here in Canada). Assuming that you  also will be included in the application (only if you are under the age of 22). If you are over 22, then you must apply for PR for yourself.

  2. Ahhh Canada ;)

    Sorry i have no idea.

  3. My husband had to do the same thing a year ago.I married and american citizen and he moved to canada with me. I am his sponsor.  Your father has to have his medical done before you submit the paper work or they won't process the application. Submit everything together. two weeks after you mailed the application you will get the sponsorship and in 2 to 3 months he will get his residency.
