i got my license today and I have done over 25 hours of practice driving but my mom doesn't think I'm able to drive by myself still. How long did you wait until you drove by yourself? Also, how do i get my mom to let me drive on my own??

  1. License, or permit?  If it's your permit you got, you can't drive alone, it's only to practice with an adult with you.  If you have your full (not learner's license or permit) you can drive alone now.

  2. well let's see the day i got my license my step dad gave me his 1994 Tercel DX...drove it everywhere...by myself

  3. Don't rush it, just wait until she's comfortable letting you.  Otherwise, she's going to get paranoid about you and ruin her health, and she'll stop letting you drive anywhere.  I had around 100 hours of practice before my mom finally let me drive alone.

  4. when you get your lisence you should be able to drive by yourself

but if your mom wont let you, you need to prove to her that you're trustworthy and safe

  5. If you have your licence then legally you're able to drive on our own. With a permit you have to have a licenced driver who is 21 or older in the passenger seat with you. So, if you're not being allowed to drive on your own it's completely your mom's decision. As far as getting her to let you drive on your own, I don't know. As soon as I got my licence I was gone, my mom wasn't worried about me because she knows how I drive. Maybe your mom just doesn't trust your driving, you'll have to figure out some way to change that.

  6. I was driving by myself BEFORE I got my license. It sounds like a matter of trust with your Mom. Let her SEE you being a responsible driver (while she's in the car with you), then one day say, "Mom I need the car keys to run to the store right quick, I'll be right back". She'll come around, she's just worried about you.

  7. I was 17 1/2 when I got my license, but I didn't drive until I got my own car at 20 because my father was worried that I'd get into an accident and make his insurance rates go up.  I couldn't drive the car period.  The only time he let me drive was one practice session before I took my 3rd road test (the one I passed).  We were in a residential area with no traffic and when I was going 15mph he told me to slow down.

You might be better off saving up for your own car so you can drive whenever you want and by yourself.
