  1. the universe? or the solar system? the big bang took place bout 10 billion years ago.

  2. about 14 billion years ago. i cant explain how they know. something with how light travels but i think thats the number

  3. Around 14.5 billion years, I believe.

  4. About 14 billion years ago, because much smarter people than me (many astrophysists and astronomers) say that and have researchered same and many, many other things.

  5. 14 billion years

The farther the star is we look at the farther back in time we are seeing. So, we can a bunch of galaxies relatively the same age as our galaxy near to us and see galaxies forming very far out. At one point this just ends. This is before the universe began producing large amounts of light. By analyzing where the galaxies are in comparison to the beginning and their individual redshift due to the changing expansion rates of the universe throughout time (light has a longer wavelength when its source is moving away from us) we can see what speed they were going relative to us at the time they sent us the light we are seeing. By combining this data we can come up with the age of the universe.

  6. 14.6 Billion years, more or less.

  7. At least 13.7 billion years ago.  Because we can see objects that are 13.7 billion light years away.

  8. 13.73 ± 0.12 billion years.

I think they estimated the age from the Hubble expansion. Looking for the galaxies with highest redshift.

  9. The solar system is about 5 billion years old. This plus the observation of red shift in stars moving away gives the ballpark figure of 13-15 billion years ago.
