A radio aerial is to be put up at the top of two buildings,one higher than the other by 25 meters.The aerial at this point of an change at the taller building will make 75 degrees angle with the vertical.Allowing 4 meters for typing at the ends,how long an aerial wire must be provided?

  1. The formulas I have for calculating the length require either the distance between the buildings, or the absolute height of one of the buildings.  Please edit your question and provide Additional Details.

    However, if this is a simple problem involving triangles (if the aerial is pulled infinitely tight to make a 'straight' line from tower-to-tower... then the answer is:

    sin(15) = 25 / length

    Note: 90 - 75 degrees = 15 degrees

    length = 96.6 meters

    allowing 4 meters, the total = 100.6 meters.

  2. The length of an aerial is determined by the wavelength of the frequency it is being used at.
