  1. You're gonna be looking at roughly $1000 just to draw up the papers and about 6 months beginning to end...and that's if there is no contestment between the two parties involved...Remind you that this is in Texas...you figure 60 days waiting for a hearing, 60 days for finalizing everything and 60 days after the divorce is decreed before you can do anything legally...you can do the DIY option but it takes a lot of research and a lot of time and money spent in the county clerks office...I would just get a lawyer or go to legal aid...

  2. in california you can get a fee waiver package. mine cost me nothing. check with the clerk at the family court in your area

  3. Don't even bother with a lawyer especially with your situation

all lawyers are crooks in my opinion.

  4. check at your local clerks office if you have nothing to fight over then it could be as little as $250 dollars that is what mine cost.

Here in NC you have to be apart/separated 1 year it varies from state to state.  1 of you get a lawyer and the other one says ok and signs and its over in 30 days

  5. You could probably get the papers online and file it yourself.  If you both agree on the terms, it should not be very expensive .

  6. It's free and takes a couple of weeks
