  1. The peak age for SIDS is between two and four months of age, although it can occur anytime during the first year of life.

  2. They are at risk for true "SIDS" for the first 2 years of life... but there is a risk of what I believe thy are calling SCDS... that is the same thing but in the over 2yrs old sect.  That risk goes down after around 4 or 5 years old so I hear... but that is much rarer than SIDS!  I saw a whole story on it on TV a while back after a 2 or 3 year old had passed from it and the parents wanted to try to educate others about it.

  3. Usually up to 1 year, although there are cases where it happened later but most cases occur to infants up to 1 year old

  4. The risk is there until the baby reaches 6 to 8 months of age, and then it begins to decrease but sadly there have been very, VERY rare cases of SIDS reported in children as old as 5 years.

When we sleep, ALL of us, as our brain rests it at least once a night 'forgets' to tell the body to breathe, but this 'mistake' is corrected within seconds, in babies/children that we lose to SIDS it is still unknown as to why the brain doesn't correct the mistake.

  5. Definitely a year.

  6. Up to one year of age

  7. its actually up to 2YEARS!!!

hard  to belive, but i swear its true!

i had a cousin die at 19months from sids!

  8. Up to a year old.  Most cases occur between 2 and 5 months.  It is believed, currently, that SIDS is primarily caused by a sleep problem. Baby goes into such a deep REM sleep that their autonomic breathing system fails.  Clearly SIDS is multicausal, but this seems to be the current prevailing theory for the majority of SIDS babies.
