Question:

How long are breaks with different hours of shifts?

I have a 4 hour Saturday job and I was wondering if I am entitled to a break. My work do not give me one.

However when I do extra hours like a 5 hour or 6 and half hour shift I only get 15 mins break.

Do I get paid for breaks?

Can someone give me more info about breaks and the law?

  1. Federal law doesn't require breaks.  Some states do, but you don't say where you are so there's no way for anyone here to know if your state does.

Many companies have policies to give breaks even though they aren't required to.

You get paid for short breaks of 15 minutes or less.  The company isn't required to pay you for lunch breaks, but a few companies do.

  2. depends on where you are

in the US federal law does not mandate any breaks

only a few states mandate breaks for adults

almost all states mandate breaks for minors

edit your question to include where you are

  3. where do you work...what city, country...laws are different all over the world.

  4. The laws are different from state to state.  Check with the labor board in your state who will have that information for you.
