How long are car seats good? Till they expire??

I'm speaking of toddler booster seat?

I know they have a label that shows the exp date... but some how my daughter peeled it off.

  1. They don't expire on a specific date, but they do correspond to certain size children.  Most brands of booster seats are designed for children over 40 lbs and they should be used until your child is 4 feet 9 inches tall.

  3. The general rule is that you should replace the seat at 6 years no matter how good you think it still is.

  4. your local fire department would be able to help.  They have a list of all recalled, legit, etc.  They also can make sure they are installed correctly.  I believe the police station does the same thing.

  5. Most seats expire after 6 years (a few were 5 and some were 8).  It should be date stamped on the seat in the plastic somewhere.  Otherwise call the manufacturer with the serial number or batch number and they should be able to tell you.
