How long are digital cameras supposed to last?

I have a Nikon Coolpix that is 1 and a half years old and I was wondering if I should invest on buying a new one b/c I am going on lots of trips this summer and I do not want it to quit working!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Well, All the people I know have had theirs for longer than that....my parents have had theres for going on 5 years in july....But the lcd and pics are getting blurry.which started around a year ago. So almost 4 years!

I've had mine for almost one.

I wouldnt know because usually people upgrad before their camera goes out! lol.

If you do get a new camera, I would recommend looking up the dcrp review for it. Good reviews! I bought a canon powershot a630 and it hasnt failed me....as long as the batteries are high and lighting is good lol!

It takes AMAZING pictures, my only ocmplaint is that you have to fiddle around with the settings to get the BEST picture and when you are photographing living things (which I do alot of) that is not good. hah.

I can show you some of the pictures it takes though!

I HAVE heard it's much better than the coolpix though.
