  1. They are only effective for 5 years...People that work on a steal Plant must have one every 5 years

For a person that is not in direct contact with steal products all the time, it is about 10 years.

  2. For a loooonnnngggg time, assuming you had your initial three jabs in the first year of life, and boosters at 18 months and four to five years. However, the recommendations of the CDC and the Red Book committee are more conservative. A booster is recommended every ten years, but if you have a deep, dirty wound after five years, you should get another.

The reason I said these were conservative recommendations is based on the fact that tetanus was extremely rare in WWII veterans who were immunized against tetanus. Until the early 1960's, most adult tetanus victims in the USA were women. The veterans retained their immunity over the intervening two decades with a high degree of reliability.

  3. 5-10, depending on who you talk to.  They used to say 10, but have started giving boosters to anyone who's been hurt & it's been over 5.

  4. Yup. About 7-10 years.

If you're near the end of one, and cut yourself badly on something out of doors they'll usually just give you one to be on the safe side.

  5. My great Grand daddy got his shot back in 1915 and its still effective for me.

The medicine back then was really strong.

  6. Approx. 10 years
