If they have been asked over and over again then why hasn't anyone come up with a firm answer including yourself!

If you can't offer a decent answer then go away and bother someone else please. They are not controversial only educational looking for varied and valuable opinions!

  1. Yom can be translated as day or time period so it could be millions of years. We don't know exactly. Furthermore, each time period wasn't necessarily equal.

  2. The days were 24 hours! (He made the days, one day at a time for a reason!)

  3. We don't know, it could be billions of days for us. Theres that song, Better is one day in your courts than a thousands elsewhere. So maybe it could be 1000 days.

  4. Depends.

The "days" in the creative accounts of Genesis are unspecified periods of time.

The "days" in other accounts like in telling ages of people were regular 24-hour days.

  5. ohh i LOVE this question,  Bravo on asking it.

i believe differently to most of your answerers, i dont believe that the 7 DAYS of creation accually took a week,  Im dont consider myself a creationist or evolutionist,

What i believe is that a creator or a god of some discription mayhave created and guided the world in the way he wants, however that things DID Evolve. in fact they continue to evolve, and will do so forever.

heres an interesting point i was told once that a day in heaven is 1000 years in our terms,  so whose to say that the earth didnt take 6000 years to make.  although i dont really aggree with that one either.

  6. Unspecified.

  7. was the earth created in the first day?

was it created in 6 days or 7? god rested on the 7th day

did Adam get kicked out on the 7th day or the 8th?

paul said the days of man are a thousand years compared to a day of God

yet was the vision of the creation of the earth written (witnessed by abraham) in 6 days or 7? as our earth rotates

    that is a different matter.

  8. "And the evening and the morning was the 1st day"

"Evening" and "Morning" show that it was a usual earth-rotating-on-its-axis day.

  9. 24 hour periods of time. You see, the Genesis account of creation, the the seven days are seven literal days. Notice how these days are described in the Bible as..."And the evening and the morning..."

This let's us know that these were literal, twenty-four hour times.

If your not referring to this acount, then perhaps you couldclarifyy your question.

    Thanks!

  10. Neither I nor anybody else knows for sure.

A lot of controversy surrounds this topic with literalists (obviously) taking the approach of the days of Genesis lasting literally 24 hours while other theologians would take into consideration the rather persuasive theories of recent science.

  11. If you are talking about the days in regard to the creation account, the Bible does not specify but internal evidence indicates that each on was thousands of years long, possibly 7000. Note this quote from the book Insight on the Scriptures:

Length of Creative Days. The Bible does not specify the length of each of the creative periods. Yet all six of them have ended, it being said with respect to the sixth day (as in the case of each of the preceding five days): “And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a sixth day.” (Ge 1:31) However, this statement is not made regarding the seventh day, on which God proceeded to rest, indicating that it continued. (Ge 2:1-3) Also, more than 4,000 years after the seventh day, or God’s rest day, commenced, Paul indicated that it was still in progress. At Hebrews 4:1-11 he referred to the earlier words of David (Ps 95:7, 8, 11) and to Genesis 2:2 and urged: “Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest.” By the apostle’s time, the seventh day had been continuing for thousands of years and had not yet ended. The Thousand Year Reign of Jesus Christ, who is Scripturally identified as “Lord of the sabbath” (Mt 12:8), is evidently part of the great sabbath, God’s rest day. (Re 20:1-6) This would indicate the passing of thousands of years from the commencement of God’s rest day to its end. The week of days set forth at Genesis 1:3 to 2:3, the last of which is a sabbath, seems to parallel the week into which the Israelites divided their time, observing a sabbath on the seventh day thereof, in keeping with the divine will. (Ex 20:8-11) And, since the seventh day has been continuing for thousands of years, it may reasonably be concluded that each of the six creative periods, or days, was at least thousands of years in length.

That a day can be longer than 24 hours is indicated by Genesis 2:4, which speaks of all the creative periods as one “day.” Also indicative of this is Peter’s inspired observation that “one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.” (2Pe 3:8) Ascribing not just 24 hours but a longer period of time, thousands of years, to each of the creative days better harmonizes with the evidence found in the earth itself.

  12. 1 day long

  13. I think the sun still revolved around the earth disc once every 24 hours... I could be wrong.

  14. Twenty-four hours, just like now. Day and night were established in Genesis 1:3-5 ...

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

With each successive day, scripture repeats "there was evening, and there was morning—the _______ day."

Note that we see day beginning at dawn. But the bible and Jews see a day beginning at dusk. The light follows darkness. The Hebrew root for what we call darkness means chaos. And the Hebrew root for what we call day means order. So in creating each day, God brought order out of the chaos. The chaos, by the way, came from satan, who was kicked out of heaven somewhere between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2.

If you're wondering if God created everything in six days, understand that God is the creator of time. Therefore He is not bound by it. He rules over everything, including time.

  15. Wow, you are asking all the most controversial questions, that have been asked over, and over, and over....get a life troll!

  16. guessing 24 hrs for humans....for God its alot longer..

  17. Approximately 24 hours.

  18. 24 hours

The Hebrew word "yome" is used throughout the OT, and it MAY mean a day, a season, a year, or an indeterminate period of time, HOWEVER, when it is used WITH either morning or evening, it ALWAYS references a 24 hour time period.

The ancient Hebrew written language has no punctuation, so there ARE NO exclamation points or question marks. When the authors wished to EMPHASIZE something, REPETITION was their only option, and 3 times is maximum emphasis...that's why the Bible says God is Holy, Holy, Holy (Isaiah 6:3)...

When Genesis was written, "yome" was used WITH BOTH morning and evening, and this repetition was used for ALL 6 days of creation;  this is twice reinforced because of the use of BOTH morning and evening...Then it is DOUBLED maximum because this phrase was used for ALL 6 days of creation...such clarity, repetition, and emphasis is NOWHERE else in the Old Testament.

Those who wish to refer to Genesis as "parable" or "allegory" are thinking wishfully, or ignorant of what they speak.
