  1. It depends on what was used.  There are dozens of drugs to choose from, some of which are metabolized quickly.  A typical general anesthetic uses 6-10 different drugs, and a big case may use 2-3 times that number.

    Even the gases have different rates of elimination, as they diffuse into muscle and fat, and diffuse out slowly.

    Many times, we use longer acting pain medications to keep our patients comfy for a while after surgery.  

    Most of what we use is gone within 24 hours, but I can use things that will be gone in less than an hour.  Depends on the situation.


  2. It depends on type of drug & its quantity - administered.For short GA-quickly metabolising drugs are used.If a prolonged  operation the anaesthetic agent is continued in form of inhalation / injection.

                               Till they are continued it will be in blood & till they are completely washed out from blood they will be excreted & detected in urine.
