  1. as far as I know, California's like the only state to have the courses 3 miles. Other states do 3.1 miles, which is a 200 meter difference.

Also, in California, we run 3.1 miles for State and then 3.1 miles for NTN (Nike Team Nationals in Portland, Oregon) and Footlocker (individual nationals)

** i've never heard of a shorter course for freshmen, though

  2. Mostly 5ks (3.125 mi)  but some schools do 10ks (6.25 mi) too.

  3. Where I run, JV and Varsity run 5k. (3.1 miles)

However specifically freshman races run 3.2k (2 miles)

Sometimes the length of the courses differ because of just how it worked out

  4. 3 miles in some states but in most states high schoolers run a 5k which is 3.1 miles.

  5. They are 5k, which is 3.1 miles. Sometimes there are shorter races for the freshman which are usually around 2miles. Good luck!
