Question:

How long before I can give my dog another (different) flea medication?

I have two dogs (male and female), one of which I cannot give topical flea treatments to because her skin reacts horribly to them. My vet just recently got in an oral flea medication called "Comfortis" and I bought this and gave it to her. It works GREAT and she doesn't react to it at all.

Anyway, my OTHER dog (the male) doesn't react to topical treatments, so I gave him his Frontline Plus at about the same she got her Comfortis treatment.

Now, I've noticed that Frontline does not work NEARLY as well as the Comfortis does. My male dog still has itching. Not enough for me to be overly concerned (my house and yard have been sprayed for bugs, but apparently that doesn't rid the problem completely) ... but it would be GREAT to have them both on the Comfortis since it works SO WELL. My female dog hardly ever scratches at all. I'm so happy with it - TOTALLY worth the money.

How long should I wait, after I've given the male dog his Frontline Plus, to give him a treatment of Comfortis?

p.s. And of course I'm going to give the vet final say on this... I just thought I'd ask here, too. Thanks everyone.

  1. Well, you are supposed to give it once a month.

I just gave my puppy frontline plus and it works great on him.

FrontLine is one of the top flea medications so I dont know why

it would not work on your dog.

But anyways, you can give the dog a flea treatment monthly.

Check with your vet to confirm.

  2. No sooner then 3 weeks
