Question:

How long before I feel emotionally ok after miscarriage?

I miscarried about three weeks ago, the pain has finally stopped but I still have horrible dreams about it every night and wake up really angry and grumpy. This eventually dies down with the need to get on with life and work. But at night I get sad and upset again. My husband left me when the miscarriage was diagnosed, so don't have him to talk to about it. Was wondering how other people dealt with similar things and how long it took them to get back to some sort of emotional normality

  1. After 12 weeks (3 months) the emotional scars will heal, but you will always have memories of the event.  To minimize it the most, once you successfully give birth, the memory will be very very faint.

  2. Oh sweets I am so sorry that you are dealing with your loss and an absent/nonsupporting husband.

The time it takes to emotionally heal differs with each person. No one can tell you when you will recover from your loss.

I really recommend seeing your doctor and having some counseling. You have so much going on. Then you have a safe place to open up, can get some coping skills and be on the right track to healing.

I hope things get better for you soon. I really feel for you.
