How long before I will be sent to MEPS?

If I go talk to a coast guard recruiter and decide to join, about how long will it be before I get sent to MEPS for the first time?

It depends on what you need to go to MEPS for.  A few days after you go to the recruiter, they will bring you to MEPS to take the ASVAB.  Once you have that done, they will try to get you in their that day to see the medical side.  There is so much to do, its tough to get it all done in one day!

EDIT - Dennis_Linda.  He wasnt asking to ship!  He was asking how long it would take to get his butt to MEPS after the first time he talks to you and you find that he had the potential to take the ASVAB and see the Doctor!

That would depend on how fast you get your paperwork together. If you need no waivers and you have all documentation, the packet takes several hours to complete. If you have it all together, you could go to MEPS on Thursday night for the ASVAB, take the physical and see a career counselor on Friday...........

Average ship time after the test and phys is around 14 days.

These things usually depend on need. I waited 8 mo. to go, but it could be as short as 30 days or as long as 10 mo. Just ask that question soon in your conversation with the recruiter. I hope this helps you, and I'm proud of you for wanting to serve your country!

i met my recruiter and about three days later i took my asvab and about 2 days after that i was at meps.
