If a person were to disappear regardless of weather they died or not. Maybe they went to another country to die. Not the point. How long would it be before the person were legally be declared dead and would life insurance pay the families? And would life ins. pay the beneficiaries.?

  1. It depends on what state they live in.  Usually, it's a minimum of 7 years.

Would the policy pay?  Depends on how it is written, and how long it's been in place.

  2. let grandpa out of the basement. this is a bad way to make money.

i think you need to go to court and have them declared dead whenever there is no proof of their death. i believe the armed forces declares soldiers or sailors dead when something happens like the ship sinks and they are never found, and i believe a medical examiner will do it if he has enough evidence , such as if a piece of the person was found after an accident, but if you have no idea what happened to the person, you need to go to court.

    check with a lawyer.

  3. My condolenses to the old man whom you want to marry and then pack off for seven years !!!

  4. In the States, they usually do it at seven years.  There are legal applications that an attorney has to present.  The insurance companies would pay off to the appropriate people.(( NOTE: if there was strong circumstantial evidence that the person fled to another country, or was in hiding for some reason, the insurance companies could take legal actions to delay payment - it would depend upon their evidence and how the courts ruled ))
