My aunt is co-signing for me so I can buy a car, but the thing is I live in CA and she lives in Reno, NV. I only have less than a week to purchase the car with her in NV, get an insurance and get it registered. Is one week enough to do all of that?

And when I do register the car in CA, does she have to come with me to CA dmv since she's the primary owner of the car?

  1. omg pls dont listen to stubs.. you can NOT drive an unregistered car even if you do have insurance on it. If you had a car that you traded in for this one, they can do a temporary registration right there for you at the dealership. But if you are purchasing this without using a trade in, once you have the keys to the car in your hand and are able to drive it, you will be able to insure (do this first), and then get registration on the car. Keep in mind that you do NOT drive this car off the lot unless they give you a temporary license plate, or until you are done at the DMV. But you can get all of this done in one day, it will just take a cpl hours.

  2. That is not a problem.  You will have to have insurance before you take the car home.  And you can drive it back to CA and register it there.
