How long before its performance is quashed?

I want to set up my desktop PC using say 15metres of ethernet cable over using a wireless connection as im getting poor download speeds since moving PC from upstairs to downstairs,will the peformance drop be big using the ethernet cable or should i just stick to the wireless connection,i was getting say 230k upstairs but am now only getting say 35k wirelessy

  1. You will see the same performanc with a 3 meter, 15 meter, or 100 meter ethernet wired connection...  The speed won't decrease with those lengths...  


  2. Stick to using a wireless connection to avoid the hassle of running all that cable downstairs. A wireless connection is good as long as it's within 50 feet of your router generally. Connecting your computer via ethernet cable won't make any improvements, since the internet speed isn't influenced by whether or not you use your cable to connect or by a wireless connection. Only advantage you would gain by using an ethernet cable is if you plan on transferring files from one computer to the other in your home, since the transfer speeds would be much higher than if one of the computers had a wireless connection.
