If we keep allowing more and more illegals to crowd our school, use our medial and social services free of charge and give nothing in return, the American way of life will eventually sink under the weight of its own generosity.

It's because we're trying to appease all the countries who have lost respect for us in the last few decades. We welcome them with open arms offering them all the freedom and luxuries as us legal citizens. My dad went to Switzerland looking for a job in photography. They basically told him he'd have no luck or he'd have an eternity of paperwork to go through. They don't want foreigners, especially Americans, taking the jobs away from their citizens. Something like this has to be done now. We're too willing to please whomever just so the rest of the world won't come and destroy us.

What exactly is the "american way of life"?

Charging everything to a credit card while making minimum payments on it, and working to pay bills?

Or maybe it is having a nice house, not paid for; a new car, not paid for; EDUCATION, not paid for.

What is it that you "give in return", when illegals pay for what they really OWN since they are forced to pay cash... simply cause they can't walk into a bank to open an account. They don't get their medical sevices for free either, they get slapped with a huge bill cause they can't get insurance.

Leaving our borders essentially wide open is one of the great, long lasting sins of a corrupt,Republican administration that merely sought immediate short term gain by way of cheap labor- they destroyed my carpenters union. I'm very close to becoming extremely upset with anything that even remotely smells of Republican lies. Of course if most of us had our druthers they would go to trial but it may already be too late.

Its not just illegals, but yes that is a disturbing part of it.

The attempts to increase socialistic programs, the calls for government to take on more and more rolls in everyday life, and, most disturbing to me, the increasing disconnect with the idea of personal responsibility that some of our fellow citizens have scares me a lot.

America was built on the idea that freedom will allow those who work for it to HAVE A CHANCE to become successful.  No guarantees.  Socialists have pervaded our society and shamed us into an overdeveloped sense of responsibility for everyone else.  In doing so, we are giving up the freedom that gave us the chance to be successful enough to be in the position to be able to assist others.

When America breaks itself upon its own generosity, who will the world blame for its problems?  ...Wait, that was the question in the first place.  Ooops.

I think that the lifeboat can right itself, but its passengers need to take a lesson or sixty-eight in fiscal responsibility.  The generosity is a part of the problem, but also is the pervasive idea that the government is there to prop everyone up and bail them out if they fail

Oh, you took a stupid mortgage so that you could buy a house that you couldn't afford??  Well of course the government should bail you out!!  Its not your fault you overspent and then failed to plan for the fact that your teaser rate on your ARM finally went up.  No one really reads the fine print.

The medical and social services will collapse before the country does; those services are supported by the government, which is supported by taxes. American citizens will eventually be fed up with paying for illegal immigrants, and will demand border security and deportation of illegals. Many are already fed up with paying for this and are voting in favor of these two actions.

Keep leaving it up to the politicians to "fix" the mess, and it won't be long at all.  Companies who continue to hire illegals need to be punished according to the 1986 laws.  Sanctuary Cities need to be pressed to stop undermining Federal Laws.  Not to mention that the U.S. Supreme Court as granted the illegals children the same right to a free k - 12 education as citizens and residents.

Just as Australia does, the U.S. needs to make English the spoken language.  Learning, understanding, reading and writing the English language gets them in.  To add -  the U.S. must also make sure that the citizens, and legal residents are offered the jobs first.

If our laws, policies, and politicans aren't working together to prevent any further abuse for having illegals here in the country...  Then why would we need politicians, laws, and policies at all!
