  1. try going to your dr. and doing a blood test this testing is more sensitive to lower levels of hcg.... hpt's might miss what a blood test wont

  2. Some women do not get a positive test until 1 to 2 weeks after their missed period. I would say that if your period is not typically this late you should call your doc and ask for a blood test.  I am also a little last this month in that I was due on the 15th and I'm not ever late however all tests are negative so I'll schedule a blood test if I don't see anything by Thursday. You should do the same.

Best of luck to you :)

  3. if you are sure you ovulated then then i'm afraid you would already know by now.

  4. HCG, the 'pregnancy hormone' is released as soon as the embryo is embedded into the womb, i.e. immediately.  It's made as the umbilical cord starts to form to hold the embryo/baby in place.

A home pregnancy test is very sensitive to even the smallest amount of HCG in the blood, however, it must be stressed that all positives ARE positive, but NOT all negatives are negative.

I was in the same position as you (with what I thought was my first), and I turned out to not be, sadly.  Go see your doc within the next week, and they will either do a blood test or examine you.

    I wish you luck.
