How long before the wedding day do you have a bridal shower if the family lives out of state?

There is sqabbling because the family has not had enough

notice to make arrangement or even a date until last week .

The bridesmades put out a posssible date for Sept 6 the

wedding in October 11 most family have declined so now

the bride is cancellng eveything.

Since the bride is canceling the shower, it makes no difference, does it?

I don't see what was wrong with the date the bride suggested.  That's more than a month to get ready for it.  I rarely get a shower invitation more than 4 weeks prior to the shower. Usually 3 weeks.

My wedding is on Saturday, September 6th and I had my shower on Sunday, June 29th.  4 of my 5 attendants live out of the state, so I gave them enough time (2 months) to figure things out.  People most of the time who are coming from out of state don't want to call off work and make travel arrangements twice in a month.  I told everyone I invited 2 months before the bridal shower date when it was going to be so it gave them time to figure things out.  Also, the invitations went out in mid-May.

I'm sorry to say this, but the shower (especially to help out the out of state guests) should have been planned earlier, or at least the date set in stone earlier than now.  It doesn't sound like they're very organized.

If the bride wants to cancel things, have them plan a "post-wedding" housewarming shower or something to that effect which gives people time to figure things out and come.

that should be enough time.  Can they have it meanr them and ahve the bride travel.

I think that 6 to 8 weeks ahead of time minimum but no more than 12 weeks. If most of the people are out of state they shouldn't really be expected to come and shouldn't have even been invited. Whoever is nearby can do something small. If the entire family is out of state in one place then they should have thrown one for her there and had her travel to them.
