How long before thyroid levels normalize from 12?

Question

Dx with Graves disease at age 17 ; and had thyroidectomy. At age 31 going back and forth between hypo and hyperthyroidism. TTC since miscarriage in Feb. On synthroid .112mg. Was given RX today for .200mg. Doc told me to finish .112mg so I've doubled .112mg dose which would make this dosage .224mg that I'm taking now. Feel much better ( not tired, sleepy, have energy, no dizziness today-still cold intolerance, dry skin/hair, brittle hair &loss, weight loss; another 2 1/2 pounds in 10days) Have lost 61# since Sept. due to stress (129#); cholestrol high at 275 which have affect on TSH. I know hypothryoidism causes ferility and other problems. Also know that TSH range should be 0.3-5.50 and 1-2 to conceive and maintain pregnancy, but 3-5 is acceptable.

?-How long will it take before my levels to go from 12 down to this range to conceive this month? Started period July 30th, LMP was the 5th (regular 26 day cycles that last 2 days with ovulation on day 15 and 10d luteal phase)

Since you have switched from hypo / hyperthyroid before, you will probably have a much better idea how long it took for TSH to go down from 12 to a normal range.  It obviously varies from person to person and amount of meds.

I would guess weeks, not days or months.

btw, 10d luteal phase is considered borderline luteal phase defect (much too short, may be insufficient time for implantation) - you should also consider talking to your doctor about progesterone supplementation to lengthen your cycle (assuming you are ovulating to begin with).
