On average, how long did/does your six month old stay awake for between naps?

My son is starting to go 4 hours between his naps! - is this normal?

  1. sounds about right to me.  i have worked in childcare for more than 5 years.  by about 6 months or so they start to get into more of a two nap a day pattern.  so 4 hours sounds about right.  as long as he is content with this pattern then let it be.  


  2. at that age a baby is growing tremendously fast. They often experience growth spurts. During that time you'll find that your baby will be doing a lot more than normal sleeping. It's ok. Let your baby sleep. It stimulates growth as well as mental development.

  3. My son is almost 6 months old, and in the past week he has started going about that long between naps.  Usually between 3 and 4 hours.  I am going to ask his pediatrician at his checkup, but everyone is telling me it is pretty normal.
