Traffic is a major issue depending what day you are going on and also what time of day.

It is a route I have done several times due to my parents living in Sutton Coldfield and working in London on occasions.  None stop it takes roughly two and a half hours, if you stop naturally you add that time on.

If there are delays due to rush hour or an accident, it has been known to take me up to 4 hours, the worst being 7 after an accident in Reading.

We do that journey a couple of times a year and it takes a about 2 hours depending on the traffic and road conditions.
