How long should I expect him to rest for & where is the line between just resting on the bottom of the tank and there being something wrong?

  1. at night

  2. They usually sleep at night, drifting around slowly or resting on the bottom. Something would be wrong if there is rapid breath, scales missing, laying on it's side, open sores, ect. You will know if something is wrong when you see it. Just trust your instincts and ask online if you need more help.

  3. If your fish was dying, it would be on it's back trying to swim, but would be floating up, eventually, it would just die. And your fish is just sleeping, and it should rest for awhile.

  4. No idea?

  5. They only rest on the bottom at night when they are "sleeping"

Goldfish are very active and if they seem lethargic for any period of time then something is wrong.

The one thing that will make them slow down is an increase in temperature because they are a coldwater fish. I keep mine at 74F

  6. i have had goldfish, kois, carps, fantails in my tank then put them in my  pond for nearlly 2 years now but mine have never rested at the bottom of the tank or the pond but i do know that goldfish rest at the bottom for a while if they are sleeping or just feel unwell or the water is too acidic for them test yr water ph levels /nitrite/nitrate levels too also change 1 third of the water every one to two weeks hope this helps u out
