How long can I leave lettuce out before it goes bad?

  1. well you can normally go with the way it looks and how crisp it is, because you dont know how long the store has been storing the lettuce, so theres no specific time on how long it can be out, if it starts to get less crispy, darker in color/change color and if the leaves seems to hang down or wither down when you pick it up, then most likely its starting to get bad, hope this helps


  2. Depends upon how it looks as the other person wrote.  Just break off the wilted leafs and go to the ones that are still crisp.

    Also, it depends on the type of lettuce.  I like the hydrophonic lettuce since it is still a living product - plus it lasts a long time - even when I have left it on the counter by accident over night.  Leaf lettuce seems to last the best in my opinion - romaine and such, but that is only a personal observation on my part with what I am getting in my area.
