How long can I stay in Ireland?

My fiancee is starting graduate school at Trinity in Dublin in the fall. We would like to spend the year together in Ireland but I do not know how we can manage that legally. If I register with the Guarda, will I be able to stay in Ireland for a year (without a work visa)? How much money would I need to prove that I could live for a year?

  1. to live for a year a lot

  2. Ireland is really expensive, you would need a fair bit of cash for the year. Depends really, contact the Irish embassy as stated above that would be your best bet.

    Good Luck x x

  3. Well you could always get married before you guys go :)

I know for a fact you can stay at least 6 months with no problems.

You should contact an Irish Embassy within the US, I'm sure they can give you the information you need.  You can do a search for Irish Embassy, there are several in the US, but here is one I found for you.
