Question:

How long can I take Chinese herbs?

I have had a lot of success with Chinese herbs in the past, and I am currently a student without much money to spend on visits to herbalists etc. By reading about the combination of symptoms I have shown in conjunction with recurring urinary tract infections, I found a blend of herbs called Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan that has helped prevent recurrences. However, I bought it myself, without an acupuncturist's recommendation. I don't know how long it's safe to take these herbs in general.

Does anyone know if it's toxic when taken for more than a few weeks?

Thanks!

  1. There is a catalog that sells those herbs, and has alot of info. I have seen that formula in it. they have a website and an herbalist will answer your questions, there: www.eastearthtradewinds.com

  2. Typically, something that is going to clear a urinary tract infection should be used short term (10 days to 2 weeks). There are many tonic herbs in Chinese medicine to strengthen the Water Element that can be taken for 6 months or more. The question is, are you trying to clear an infection or prevent one.
