How long can a B-1 visa holder stay in the US??

I'm going to college next year and a friend of mine is coming with me but not for education for tourist purpose but we will sleep in the same room,he'll stay with me for 2 years personal reasons. could he stay with me for that long on a B-1 Visa??

not possible. like the other answerer said, you friend can only stay 6 months maximum. he can apply for an extension once. no way he can stay on a b1 visa for 2 years. if he does, he becomes illegal and will be banned from the US for 10 years.

b-1 is usually 6 months, they would have to file for a special extension 90 days before expiry of the visa
