you can visit Jamaica for 6 months without a visa;

nationals of the UK and Ireland for stays not exceeding 6 months

make sure your passport is valid........

for 6 months when you leave, if you know for a fact that you will stay 6 months? have it renewed before leaving.

now, if you want to reside there?

you must have a resident permit , job , investments etc.
