How long can a check service keep you in their system?

When I was 17 yrs. old (32 years now) I had a check bounce. I paid the check amount, but did not pay their (the check service) fee. That was 15 years ago. They still refuse to take me out of their system until I pay their fee. It's not that big of deal, as it's just this one store in town that still uses this service, but it aggravates me that 15 years have passed and they say they can still keep it in there. Can they really do this? If not, how do I get them to quit...I've tried calling...should I send a certified letter? I live in Texas, so I guess Texas law applies, unless it's a Federal matter and then I guess it's the same every where.

  1. As long as you owe the money you remain in the system.  Just pay your debt and move on
