Question:

How long can a fertilized chicken egg be without an incubator or a chicken's warmth?

I found a chicken egg and I had it for at most a week. I'm pretty sure its fertilized, but I don't know if that week that I had it without the warmth from a chicken or incubator might have decreased its chances of actually maturing to be a chick.

  1. No more than 7 days after being laid.

And that's assuming no incubation had already taken place.  If any incubation had taken place, the egg is no longer viable.

  2. Actually not having kept it warm for the week probably gave you a good chance of hatching something.....     when we gather eggs for incubation, we gather them for a week and keep the daily gathers in a cooler, dark place until we are ready to "set" the eggs in the incubator......      after the incubation process has begun, its then that the warmth factor becomes an issue......     good luck!!!

  3. Actually a Chicken egg can still hatch after 14 days after being laid without being incubated by either Momma Chicken or your Incubator.

Yes, it probably has decreased the chances of it hatching.

I do strongly suggest that you get an incubator RIGHT NOW!

If you hope to hatch the egg.

    GOOD LUCK

    HOPE THIS HELPED
