you will continue to make milk for as long as you choose.  It is supply and demand, once you stop nursing you will stop making milk.  Some women choose to nurse for 2, 3, 4 years and even longer.

As long as you are consistantly breast feeding and you have no complications from it, your body will produce milk indefinetly. I know a woman who breast fed her child until he was 4 years old. I've heard of longer too. But if you aren't feeding or pumping consistantly, your body will stop producing.

It is recommended that you breast feed for the baby's first year.

In another question a few minutes ago a woman said she breastfed until her child was 4...that's the longest I've heard of.

There is no maximum amount of time...eventually a baby slows down and the milk flow isn't as much, but it can go years.......

I don't know if there is actually a time limit.

I'd imagine that for as long as the baby/child is still stimulating the breast and sucking to produce milk, then one could go on breastfeeding for a very long time.

I've heard of people feeding 8 year olds, but i'm sure they could go longer.
