im actually not sure, but some people say they dont. however, our slide near our pool has a wasp nest every year, and we always see the wasps sit on the surface of the water and then fly away like it was drinking it!

and no, it was not a bee.

im guessing they can curvive a very long time because, they also drink nectar.
