my betta fish tank was drained of water when i woke up, and the rock was compleatly dry, not even a centimeter of water. i was about to go get the net and flush them, when one of them kind of flopped. i quickly filled the tank up with water and they are still alive today. Is this possible??

please tell me or email me with responses.

  1. Sorry to ask, but why was your fish tank drained of water???  I'm sure they will be fine now but please don't let it happen again.  I know I am telling you something you already know but you really need to look after your water because even though they (Bettas) are used to living in ponds is no reason for you to ignore them.

Unless, of course you had an unfortunate accident, and then of course you know how to prevent it next time.

  2. One or two days. only if the fish is in a very good conditions

  3. This happened to my dad when he was a lot younger, i was really amazed at how tough those fish can be. when i heard i was like wow! apparently they can live in quite a few types of liquid that i never thought of. but i think it depends on how healthy the fish is before its out of water, if its in poor health it can die really quick but if its healthy it can last a day maybe two

  4. Ya it's happened to me before.

  5. about 5 minutes

  6. Remember that Bettas are air breathers. So they can definitely breathe out of water. However their bodies will dry out and die at some point. I would just keep a close eye on your Bettas and check them for any external damages.

Whatever happened to your tank, please do fix it immediately. And be grateful you were able to save your fishy buddies :)
