I want to go on a vacation for 4-5 days but don't have anyone to watch my cats. How long can they be left alone for?

  1. Umm post an ad on craigslist.com that you are looking for a pet sitter. I wouldnt leave your animals for four to five days.

  2. I've had my cat alone for 3 days.  He was fine as I made sure his litter was clear and he had a few bowls of food and a bunch of water.  5 days, you may want to look into an automatic feeder or have a friend stop by on the 3rd day to make sure the cats are fine.

  3. Your cats will live but how'd you like to be left alone for 5 days and the only food you have to eat has been sitting out the hole time?

  4. i've left my kitten alone for up to 4 days, and she was perfect when i got home, i just made sure to give her 2 water dishes, and fill her food dish, and clean her litter right before i left!

  5. It's probably fine.  Leave out more than enough food and lots of water, multiple bowls of each.  Make sure there are plenty of litter boxes too.  They may not use them once they're dirty and you don't want to come home to a horrible mess.

I've left mine for that long a couple times.  I wouldn't leave one cat alone that long but with more than one at least they have each other.  I'd also leave either the tv or radio on so they have some noise.  That seems to help mine.  Animal Planet is always popular here.

Don't take the advice to ask on craigslist, never let a stranger in your house.  If you want a pet sitter then find an agency that handles that. If you think you'll like that very often then I would try to find someone to come by, maybe someone else with cats so you can trade off helping each other.  But if it's just once they should be fine as long as they have everything they need.

  6. As long as you leave them plenty of food and water and clean litter boxes they should be fine. In fact, put out an extra litter box in case the others get too dirty. Have a friend to check on them at least 2-3 times, just to make sure that they still have food and water and if they will scoop the litter boxes that would be helpful also.

When a cats owner is away, they tend to over eat due to the excess food available, so don't be surprised if you see some vomit when you get home.

Also, they will probably pout for a couple of days, because you left them. They should be fine after a few days.

  7. They should be fine if the environment is safe (no blind strings hanging, hair ties or string laying around). Just leave plenty of food and water.

  8. I'm missing data.

Do you have a garden, a balcony, or you just live in a flat?

A cat that's used to go out can fend for itself for a long time provided that it has a place to return to, and water. Mine disappeared for a fortnight whenever we went on vacation and the person tasked with feeding him never saw so much as a whisker of her charge.

If you live in a flat, the cat can be alone for one or two days, but you'll only have yourself to blame if it tears the house apart. My grandparents inadvertently let their "outside" cat locked for an afternoon and when they came back all the curtains in the house had been turned into fettuccini.

  9. I leave my cats for 4 - 5 days but not longer.

Make sure they have adequate water and I use the feeders that have a timer in them so open in 8/ 24 hrs.

Cats do just fine alone for that amount of time.

If you want you can have a friend come and check on them and clean their sand box.

If you don't want to do that just put out 2 sand boxes that should be enough.

    good luck >^..^<
