  1. It depends. indoor cats are living much longer these days and can live an average of 15 years or more. However, outdoor cats only live an average of 7 years and thats without including the risks of cars or predators.

  2. They usually live to their late teens and early twenties

  3. it they live outside not too long. My first cat (Lucy) I got when I was 4 years old and when I was  30  she died. she was 26  the vet said hed never seen a cat that old.

  4. as long as they don't get run over by a car...

    seriously

    My neighbor's got three cats.

One got ran over by a car

One got buried in the sand by playing in the sack

    (curiosity kills the cat)

The last one was killed by her dog...

I mean cat has a long life. But their average life span could be 18 yrs to 20 yrs

  5. A typical lifespan of an indoor cat is about 15 years, this can give or take a couple years either way.  Obviously, they can die sooner due to illness, injury, etc.

Outdoor or indoor outdoor cats typical lifespan can be considerably less, depending on conditions outside.  Neutered cats tend to live quite a bit longer than non neutered cats, mostly due to behavioral issues like roaming.

Nutrition and veterinary care are also major factors.

I have personally known a cat who was 20 years old.  She was a beloved indoor cat who got excellent vet care and nutrition and had to be euthanized for age related illness when it became a quality of life issue.

I personally had a companion cat from when he was 10 days old til after his sixteenth birthday.

Kidney problems are common in older cats.  Watch for changes in eating and drinking patterns.  If they start drinking more water and not wanting food, see the vet asap.  A lot can be done for kidney problems if you address it right away.

Best wishes to you and your babies!!!

  6. Purely indoor cats, who are well-cared for and don't have a surprise serious illness, typically life 15-20 years.

  7. I had my cat for 19 years.  My parents made the decision to put her to sleep when she was 19.

  8. cats can live up to 18 years (rarely above), but it is more common for cats to live up to 15 to 16 years if they do not encounter any serious medical issues.  The main reason cats pass away at this age is that their organs (Kidneys specifically) do not last much longer than this.  they give out.

So, generically speaking, 15 to 16 years is average.

  9. my grandmother had a cat that was 20 something
