  1. I had a lab with same condition. She was 8 when she died, Most dogs now have some form of this.

  2. Hip dysplasia  doesn't kill a dog, but it does make the dog feel horrible and in constant pain.  There are pain remedies and surgery that can help though which can enable the dog to lead a somewhat normal life.

I had a lab that lived to be 12 1/2 and she was diagnosed with Phase 4  hip dysplasia  when she was only 4 month old.  .

  3. My Boxer Spencer was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when he was just a pup of 4 mths.  I just had to put him down(  after trying everything there was to try)  due to advanced Thyroid Cancer not his hip condition. He was 11yrs. old.

Had him on Hip & Joint Plus by Nutri-Vet.  Sold at Petco. When you go there you will see many hip&joint products.  They are NOT  of any use.  This stuff really works. without it he was limping so badly that  the store where i bought him offered to replace him.

  4. hip dysplasia isn't a disease.  They live as long as others.  of course, you can call your vet and ask them.

  5. I don't see why they cant have a long and meaningful life.  I guess the most important thing is to keep their weight down and keep them active.  Also regular vet visits to insure that more damage is not being done.  They are also brining out great medications to help pets with joint damage.  Good luck to your baby!
