but if u meant how long can humans hold their breath under water i can tell u that the longest time that a human has ever held her breath under water is 6 minutes 30 seconds exactly-- as of jan. 2008. not sure if its changed since then but thats a long time.

The reason humans can't breathe underwater has nothing to do with the solubility of oxygen in water. The answer is because of the design of our lungs. A working respiratory system has a couple properties including; large surface area, moisture, and the ability to keep a fluid carrying oxygen in motion relative to the lungs.

Because of waters large density with respect to air, out lungs are unable to push water throughout our lungs. Some aquatic animal have a design that's more like a filter than water rushes through, compared to our "sponge" design.

They can't.  Although if you have a snorkel, you can breathe underwater indefinitely.  And if you have a scuba tank, you can breathe until the air runs out.  But without any equipment, you can't breathe, and you will drown.
